How we test and write these pages
The guides on this site are written by Nguyễn Lương Bằng, who builds the Hullara theme. This page says how they are made, so that you can judge them by their method rather than by our say-so.
Code is run before it is published
A guide that shows code — a size chart, a sticky add-to-cart button, a free-shipping bar — shows code that has run on a real Shopify development store, inside the themes it names, before the page went up:
- On named themes, at named versions. Shopify's free themes, Dawn and Horizon, at the version that was current on the day. The versions and the date are printed beside the code and in the byline, because a theme update can change what a sample needs.
- As an unpublished copy. The theme is pulled, the sample is placed exactly where
the guide says to place it, Shopify's own
theme checkis run over the result, and the copy is uploaded unpublished. No live store is used. - In a browser, at phone and desktop width. The sample is used the way a shopper would use it — with a mouse, a finger-sized viewport and the keyboard alone — and the browser console is read for errors. Screenshots on the page are from that run.
A date beside a sample is the date it last ran. Treat an old date as an old result.
Numbers come from a method, with a date
Every figure about speed on this site is read from the theme's own build or from a dated measurement, never typed in, and the numbers page gives the method for each one. Facts about other themes and apps are quoted from their own pages with the day we read them, and a comparison always says where the other theme is the better choice.
We are not paid to mention any app or theme on these pages, and a guide that ends by pointing at Hullara says so in as many words.
What AI does here
An AI assistant (Claude, made by Anthropic) helps draft these pages and runs the scripted tests described above. It does not decide what is true. Every claim is checked against a source or a measurement, and the author reads every page and decides whether it is published. A sample that has not run on a store does not ship, whoever wrote it.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, email [email protected] with "correction" in the subject. We fix it, change the page's date, and add a line here.
- 4 October 2026 — the licence and the terms said a monthly licence could be used indefinitely after the subscription ended. It cannot: a lapsed licence shows a notice on the storefront. Both documents now say so, and three pages that described a licence as covering "three stores" now say one live store, with a key that activates on three.
- 24 September 2026 — the Shrine and Booster comparisons drew Dawn's measured page weight under those themes' names. Neither had been measured; the chart was removed from both.
- 14 August 2026 — the numbers page compared Dawn's raw size with Hullara's gzipped size, which made a twenty per cent difference read as a five-fold one. Dawn was measured properly and the claim was withdrawn.
