The short version

You bought a .zip file. Upload it in Shopify under Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file, preview it, then publish when you are happy.

Your existing theme stays live and untouched the whole time. Nothing is overwritten until you press Publish, and you can switch back at any point.

What the theme does contact us for

Once, after your page has finished painting, the theme asks our licence service whether this licence is current — and then remembers the answer for three days. That is the whole of it. There is no third-party script, nothing on the checkout path, and nothing that runs before your page is on screen.

Every failure means fully licensed. Our servers down, a timeout, a bad signature, no answer at all — all of them resolve to licensed, so a bad day on our side is never a bad day on your storefront. If this site went offline tomorrow your store would carry on exactly as it is.

What the check can do is notice that a licence has lapsed or been revoked, and then the storefront shows a licence notice until that is put right. How licensing works sets out exactly when that happens.

Getting help

Email us and include your store URL and the theme version from LICENCE.txt inside your zip. That is usually enough for us to answer without a back-and-forth.
